On April 24, the Escola Cruz da Picada in Évora hosted the closing session of the Shared Identities – Identidades Compartidas conference, which focused on artistic work in the classroom and featured a closing ceremony attended by the school’s entire educational community. After several days of exchange among teams from Hungary, Germany, Portugal, and Spain, the final session focused on direct experiences with the school’s students and on the collective dimension that gives meaning to the project.
Throughout the day, the “Shared Identities” art workshops were held with students from the Escola Cruz da Picada. In these sessions, the Yehudi Menuhin Portugal Association explored shared identity through various artistic disciplines: music, with Ana Silvestre and Caio Priori Santos; theater, with Efthimios Angelakis; and movement, with Raquel Cambournac. Through these forms of expression, the children were able to explore ways of relating to the group, finding their place within it, and building shared spaces through creativity.
These proposals align with the project’s overall methodology, which structures the work around identity, inclusion, and diversity through artistic practices carried out in school settings in Hungary, Germany, Portugal, and Spain. In the case of the Évora meeting, this practical dimension was particularly evident in the work carried out in the classrooms and through direct engagement with school life.
The day concluded with the closing ceremony of the “Shared Identities” event, attended by all the students and teachers from the school. The ceremony featured traditional music and dances from the Alentejo region, thereby incorporating a cultural expression from Portugal at the end of an event dedicated precisely to continuing to build a shared identity among schools and teams from different countries.
